It was another fine weekend for Rushden Swimming Club at this year's County Championships held at Corby International Pool. Everyone was in high spirits and were ready to do it all again following on from two weeks ago.
 
Day 3
The beginning of Day 3 went well with the Mixed Open 4x200m freestyle relay team doing very well. Nathan Jones, Lydia Pouncey, Freya Cole and Brett Davies finished in a respectable 5th place. The Club's younger swimmers competed in their relays with the Boys 13/u 4x50m Freestyle team, Jack Chapman, Aiden Kabi, Philippe Oram and Callum Protty-Gibbs, finishing in 5th, and the Girls 13/u 4x100m medley relay team, Ashleigh Bales, Mollie Chapman, Olivia Snook and Olivia Beasant coming home in 4th. During the session, Callum Protty-Gibbs took a fantastic 2nd place, and Jack Chapman a cool 3rd in the 13yrs 200m breaststroke.
The finals during the evening for the 50m and 100m events gave some amazing results with Amber Bales 2nd 14yrs 50m breaststroke, Freya Cole 3rd 14yrs 50m breaststroke, Brett Davies 2nd 14yrs 100m backstroke, and Molly Britchford 3rd 16/over 100m breaststroke.
 
Day 4
The morning of Day 4 saw the Club off to a great start with the Boys 13/u 4x100m medley relay team, Jack Chapman, Callum Protty-Gibbs, Philippe Oram and William Merriman finishing in a brilliant 4th place and the Ladies Open 4x100m freestyle team, Molly Britchford, Claire Merriman, Freya Cole and Amber Bales finishing in a wonderful 3rd place and picking up a bronze medal.
Callum Protty-Gibbs continued his medal haul with a 2nd in the 13yrs 200m IM and Brett Davies also adding to his medals with a 3rd in the 14yrs 200m IM.
The afternoon held the final relays of the competition with the Girls 13/u 4x50m freestyle team Olivia Snook, Mollie Chapman, Gracie Ridout and Olivia Beasant coming in 6th and the changed Mens Open 4.100m medley relay team Marcus Eaton, Callum McDermott, James Merriman, and Jack Britchford topped off their medals with another 2nd position.
The evening's finals also continued the medal theme with Molly Brichford 3rd 16/over 50m breaststroke, Phillipa Kabi 2nd 14yrs 50m backstroke, Marcus Eaton 3rd 17/over 50m breaststroke, Callum Protty-Gibbs 2nd 13yrs 100m breaststroke, Brett Davies 2nd 14yrs 100m breaststroke and Marcus Eaton 3rd 17/over 100m backstroke.
 
Day 5
Day 5 was to see four Rushden swimmers, Lydia Pouncey, Alice Thorncroft, Brett Davies and Callum Protty-Gibbs, take part in the distance events - 1500m freestyle for the boys and 800m freestyle for the girls. All swimmers swam their very best in extremely tough events.
 
A fantastic Championships was had by all swimmers with many Personal Bests and a total medal haul of 3 Gold, 19 Silvers and 17 Bronze.
