Club Rules and Swimmers Code of Conduct
Swimmers can join RSC during the swimming year following a
successful assessment/trial. Assessments are held once a term,
generally in March, July and December. Acceptance and entry to
the Club, and movement between squads is at the discretion of
the Head Coach, Lead swimming teacher and the Club committee.
Swimmers will be placed in the teaching group/ squad appropriate
to their commitment, potential, attitude, behaviour and swimming
ability. It is our aim to help all swimmers to reach their
potential.
Swimmers are considered members of RSC from their first
training session and membership fees are due from that date. All
membership documents and fees are due within 2 weeks of joining
the Club.
Our code of conduct and club rules have been written, in
consultation with the ASA to keep you safe and to help you get
the most out of your swimming.
- Swimmers must maintain high standards of presentation
and behaviour when representing RSC both at training and at
competitions.
- Swimmers must respect the premises and staff of the
facilities in which RSC train and compete.
- Attendance at your sessions is compulsory, unless there
is a good reason agreed by the coach.
- Swimmers must take personal responsibility for their own
equipment e.g. drinks bottles, goggles, kickboards,
t-shirts, flippers by ensuring that they are all marked with
their name and that they are not left poolside at the end of
a session. RSC accepts no responsibility for any items left
behind.
- Smoking, drinking alcohol or the taking of drugs is
completely forbidden at any time. Violation of this will
result in immediate suspension and possible expulsion from
the Club.
- All swimmers must respect officials and their decisions
and treat their fellow athletes with respect.
- Bullying behaviour of any kind towards any club member,
volunteer or member of staff will not be tolerated.
- Bad and inappropriate behaviour will be challenged and
taken very seriously. A maximum of 3 warnings will be given
for serious behaviour after which the swimmer may be
suspended for a period of time (to be decided by the
committee) or asked to leave the Club.
- Swimmers must give their undivided attention to the
coach at all times and respect any decisions made.
- Swimming should be fun, friendly enjoyable, but
disciplined.
