Results

Rushden SC were crowned the overall Chiltern League champions following a superb team effort in the top division final round gala at Leighton Buzzard.

After a steady start with a couple of speeding tickets and a disqualification in the first seven races we eventually took the lead around event 12 (out of 50) and began to pull away from strong opposition. In a particularly impressive finish the team won 6 of the 8 closing relays.

The final race of the evening was an exciting win in the Men's Open 4x50 Freestyle Relay. Andrew W, Jon and Stephen set up junior swimmer Jack on the anchor leg to determinedly hold off rapidly closing opposition and finish half a second inside the cut-off time. A perfectly judged race.

The eventual margin of victory was 27 points over nearest rivals Witney District SC.

The team had a total of 8 individual wins, 11 relay wins (out of 16 relays) and 15 PBs.

There were four speeding tickets for swimming faster than the permitted cut off times. Lawrence (10U 50m Breast), Matt A (14U 50m Fly), Sophie (14U 50m Back) and Stevie (12U 50m Breast).

Sam, Lawrence (two), Matt A, Georgina , Ali (two), Rhys, Sophie, Laurence, Jo, Ian, Stevie, Andrew W and Ashlee.

Ashlee's PB in the open 100m backstroke (1.22.97) was also a club record.

Sam (Open 100m Free), Ali (10U 50m Free) , Jo (Open 100m Breast), Jon (Open 100m Breast), Ian (12U 50m Breast), Andrew W (Open 50m Fly), Nicola (12U 50m Free) and Matt A (Open 100m IM).
