Parents Code of Conduct
- Encourage your child/children to learn the rules of
swimming and play within them.
- Training fees are payable in advance at the beginning of
each term. Failure to do so will mean that swimmers are
denied access to training sessions until the arrears are
paid in full.
- Notice of resignation and withdrawal from the Club is
required and should be addressed to the Membership
Secretary. If your child/children are Category 2 swimmers
then the necessary ASA resignation form must be completed.
- Prioritise the health, safety and well being of members…
could involve nutrition, proper sleep, adequate clothing and
training gear.
- Comply with the codes, rules and laws in the guidelines
set out by the Amateur Swimming Association (ASA).
- Recognise and abide by the club rules and equity policy.
- Encourage all swimmers to obey the spirit of the rules
and ASA laws in and out of the pool. Remember, swimmers are
involved in organised sport for their
enjoyment, not yours. Never force your child to take part in
sport.
- Observe the authority and decisions of the coach and all
officials. Recognise the value and importance of club
volunteers and committee members. Do not ridicule, shout,
embarrass or abuse these valuable members of RSC treat them
with respect. They give a lot of their free time
voluntarily.
- Never ridicule or shout at your child for making a
mistake or losing a competition. Be a parent and let the
coaches do their job.
- Treat other competitors and teams with respect in
victory and defeat. Help your child to recognise good
performance, not just results.
- Treat all personal information about individual members
as confidential except in exceptional circumstances
regarding health and safety, medical requirements,
disciplinary action or in accordance with the ASA child
protection procedures and guidelines.
- Be fully responsible for your child/children when not on
poolside, i.e. it is your responsibility to ensure that your
child behaves in a responsible manner in the changing rooms/
leisure centre etc. For the avoidance of doubt, it is the
responsibility of the parent to ensure the safety of their
child once they leave poolside.
- Ensure the coach or team manager is present before you
leave your child/children before a training session or at a
competition. Please be prompt in collecting your
child/children after a training session or competition as it
is not RSC’s responsibility to wait with your
child/children.
- DO NOT go onto poolside during
training sessions or competitions unless it is an emergency
or you have made a prior agreement with the Coach or Team
Managers. If you wish to discuss a specific matter with the
coach, please arrange a time that is convenient to both you
and the coach.
Please support your child/children and their commitment to
swimming and offer your help and encouragement when required.
