Rushden Swimming Club make club history in breaking the County Record for the Open Female Freestyle Relay

The final day of the NASA County Swimming Competition on Sunday 26th February 2017, saw Rushden Swimming Club top off a successful Season at this year’s Long Course Counties by storming through the Open Female 4x50m Long Course Freestyle relay, beating the record holders Northampton, to win Gold and achieving a County record with an incredible time of 1:50:23.   The previous County record set by Northampton Swimming Club in March 2014, also at Corby’s International pool, was 1:51:74.  The team Molly Britchford 17, Amber Bales 15, Freya Cole 15 and Ciara Usher 14, swam some massive pb’s  beating Northampton, Wellingborough, Daventry Dolphins and Kettering to the top spot; Molly (28.62), Amber (27.54), Freya (27.27), Ciara (26.80).

56 Swimmers represented Rushden in this year’s NASA County Championships at Corby’s International pool, held over three weekends throughout January and February.  The team brought in a medal haul of 16 Gold, 33 Silver and 38 Bronze medals, plus 3 new Regional qualifiers within their Junior Squad. The whole County team surpassed expectations improving on last year’s medals total by 13 medals.
